SWHEA are seeking a Strategic Finance Trustee
The Saltaire World Heritage Education Association (SWHEA, Charity Reg, no. 1158756) manages the Saltaire Collection, at Shipley College in Saltaire in the Bradford District of West Yorkshire
The Saltaire Collection was initiated by the local community in 1987. It now holds over 6,000 items that help interpret the World Heritage Site of Saltaire for visitors and learners.
This is an exciting time to be involved in our charity. We are currently progressing toward Museum Accreditation for the collection. We are also moving into a purpose-built museum with bespoke storage, research, and public display space in 2026. We are small in scale and presently voluntarily managed and run.
Our board of ten trustees meets every two months, usually via Zoom. The vacant position of Finance Trustee is strategic in nature, playing a significant part in ensuring our business financial management and planning is robust. On a monthly basis, the Finance Trustee role includes a small amount of financial monitoring (bookkeeping is undertaken by our partner, Shipley College) while offering opportunities to scope and embed a strategic approach to funding development.
We particularly welcome applications from within the Bradford and Leeds districts, which are within easy travelling distance. The Finance Trustee role would suit a person with a background in business or third-sector financial management. Voluntary time commitment rarely exceeds half a day each week. Our current trustee team are warm and welcoming. An induction period will be offered.
