The Saltaire Collection has received support from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund to boost heritage education in the Collection’s Shipley College home.
The £13,200 grant will enable the stories of two iconic Saltaire buildings – Exhibition Building and Salt Building – to be told through high quality displays for the immediate benefit of Shipley College students, staff and visitors. The completed work will also feature online on our website.
Rachael Durrett, Chair of Saltaire World Heritage Education Association (SWHEA), custodians of the Saltaire Collection, said:
We are thrilled that this grant will extend our education programme into a highly valued further education setting and we thank the Government for its commitment to arts and heritage during these trying times.
It is more important than ever that we protect those things that we hold dear and continue to tell Saltaire’s unique industrial story to the next generation.
Almost 450 heritage organisations in England, including Saltaire Collection have been awarded cash from the first round of the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage.
This vital funding is from the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage and the Heritage Stimulus Fund – funded by Government and administered at arm’s length by Historic England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Both funds are part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund which is designed to secure the future of Britain’s museums, galleries, theatres, independent cinemas, heritage sites and music venues with emergency grants and loans.
